Dis is the postlapsarian name given to what was known at the time of its settling as Tshelvaní Doisseia. Although most of the city was reduced to rubble and never rebuilt, a vibrant nucleus of artists and scientists persist in the core of the old city, which has some of the most remarkable museums from the history of the pre-Shattering era, including the Tshentwidhildta il Chelvaní Doisseia ("Chronicle of Retrograde Doisseia," aka the Tsheñgina il a Dúmelía ("Memory of the City")) which houses artefacts older than Thet, such as the Sceptre of Clay and the Diadem of Haidtúo (the regalia of the Ksreskézaian Empire.) The Chronicle is of particular note as its restoration was the first municipal project untaken by the then-nascent Reed government in 57 tgc, to demonstrate their commitment to preserving Thet's past as well as its future.
The city is located in the innermost major belt, mb 1, and overlooks the Horologium and the fortress built by Tetragnostica during the Interim to conduct her research on the Eye safely. This means that the skies are usually cloudy, and that the city receives more light than any other settlement.
Unlike Kunanoten, Nea Trestua, and Survaní Doisseia which were carefully planned with above-ground mass transit, the majority of Chelvaní Doisseia's mass transit was carried out by a vast subway network (part of the Doisseia River Transit Navigation Service) servicing nearly every major intersection within the contingent city. Even more uniquely, it continued to grow and to be used (although in different ways) following the Shattering (retronymed now as the Dis Rapid Transit Network Service); the system sprawled immensely, and incorporated the main ring of a disused supercollider in the process. Wanisin slave traders were known to operate in some of the disused parts of the "Dart" subway network during the time of the Regení Mitraje.
