Every Telaian ship has its own local variant (argolect) of Kuanid. This simple fact has stymied efforts at typological description so extensively that most linguistic scholars have elected to dismiss the study of its evolution as an intractable problem; the ever-moving targets are simply too abundant and too fast to characterize usefully. Corpi have been compiled describing thousands of argolects and their relationships with one another, but as with slang dictionaries, they are not useful for translation after a few generations.
