solefu, n. Darkness, particularly due to the absence of light. See lúdenlu for a comparison of various synonyms for blackness.

usage: Solefu (usually realised as solefa) can have several contradictory poetic meanings—in early writings, it is usually invoked as an escape from unwanted light, either the very real UV-saturated light of Ksreskézo, or the criticism of peers. As Sarthía and other writers took hold and the Lilitai began to look forward to their lives, it lost its protective, nurturing appeal and came simply to mean 'that which hides' or 'occlusion,' sometimes with a sinister element. Rarely it has also been used as a precursor to aléfu, i.e. to indicate dying hope. The conflict between the first and third definitions can be understood as a metaphor for the mixed feelings felt by the freed Lilitai toward their extinct masters.
