usage: hedí modifies a genitive of possession to indicate that the noun possessed is about the topic rather than merely something owned by it. hedí normally appears as an adverb (hedya, hedaz, hedad, hedai, etc.), but may appear as an adjective if the genitive has been promoted to a normal noun with the uvíu suffix (or a reduced form thereof.)

If the topic of the affected noun cannot be summed up with a single genitive, it is advisable to use a hedu relative clause, or a full sentence with a hedíu complement clause instead.

Examples:

Mí libra hedya Améanis, "a book about [matters pertaining to] the goddess of love" (a noun complex using the adverbial form of hedí)

a Libra hedí Améaníha vizé, "The book is about [matters pertaining to] the goddess of love." (full sentence using the adjectival form of hedí)

Another, very different usage is seen with certain verbs that are intrinsically about communication:

hedekú Améa aneptégizé, "She differed [in the matter] about the goddess of love." (noun predicate using the particle modifier form, hedes.) This is usually in the dative.

etymology: From hedu. It is debated whether they are truly separate words.
